Talent or a difficult personality?

There’s a fine line between having high expectations and being difficult to work with.

Here’s how to differentiate the two:

Talents who have high demand and expectations from everyone else:

  1. Their demands come from wanting the best outcomes for the company.
  2. May seem challenging to work with, but they consistently deliver excellent results that the average couldn’t.
  3. Capable of solving problems that others find impossible.
  4. Being around them challenges you to think differently, helping you become a better version of yourself.

People who seem like talent but are actually difficult to work with:

  1. Prioritise their own interests over the company’s goals.
  2. Challenge others to serve their own agendas.
  3. May appear as a contrarian who thinks differently, but their contrary beliefs and challenges do not lead to positive outcomes nor breakthroughs.
  4. Becomes an emotional baggage to others.

Have you encountered challenging personalities in your workplace?

Ask yourself: Do these interactions help you grow and learn, or do they leave you feeling drained after each conversation?

If it’s the latter, it’s time to set boundaries and protect your energy. 🧘‍♂️
