There’s a fine line between having high expectations and being difficult to work with.
Here’s how to differentiate the two:
Talents who have high demand and expectations from everyone else:
- Their demands come from wanting the best outcomes for the company.
- May seem challenging to work with, but they consistently deliver excellent results that the average couldn’t.
- Capable of solving problems that others find impossible.
- Being around them challenges you to think differently, helping you become a better version of yourself.
People who seem like talent but are actually difficult to work with:
- Prioritise their own interests over the company’s goals.
- Challenge others to serve their own agendas.
- May appear as a contrarian who thinks differently, but their contrary beliefs and challenges do not lead to positive outcomes nor breakthroughs.
- Becomes an emotional baggage to others.
Have you encountered challenging personalities in your workplace?
Ask yourself: Do these interactions help you grow and learn, or do they leave you feeling drained after each conversation?
If it’s the latter, it’s time to set boundaries and protect your energy. 🧘♂️
